A low-growing, twining shrub up to 2 meters long. Its bluish-green leaves are odd-pinnate, with 10 to 40 pairs of oval leaflets. The flowers are arranged in groups of 3 to 10, forming a circular arrangement resembling a small crown, which is the origin of the scientific name.
