Caralluma burchardii

This rare subspecies, locally known as Cuernua or colomillo de perro (dog fang), is unique to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Careful use of seeds and shoots from a single original specimen has resulted in 100s of individuals two decades later! The small velvety-textured purple flower produces pairs of ‘devil horns’ seed pods 7-15 cm long.
