Both of Lanzarote’s native lavender plants – matarrisco de Lanzarote and matarrisco comun – are well established in the garden. Neither are on the red list of endangered species, nor do they smell much like their more northernly cousins, but they are still very attractive and the leaves of the one pictured can be used to make a pleasant-tasting infusion.
