Volcanoes

Lanzarote is supposed to have more volcanoes per km2 than anywhere else in the world, and along with its UNESCO World Heritage Status, is also a Geopark.

It is interesting to contrast Timanfaya, which erupted about 300 years ago, with Monte Corona, which erupted about 3000 years ago, and whose crater dominates the Haría district. It’s possible to walk up to and into the crater: park in front of the church at Ye, a few meters along the road to your left, a footpath leads to the spectacular crater, a 20 minute walk away.
